With assistance from the Manhattan building’s law firm, Metropolitan was able to negotiate an additional $ 25k per year from the restaurant for the use of the building’s rooftop.

Limit Building Supplies And Equipment Spending For Superintendents

Second, it is a common practice to give a building’s Superintendent a spending limit on building supplies and equipment. Property managers at Metropolitan say that Superintendents often have permission to spend anywhere from $ 1,000 up to $ 5000 without Board approval. “Overspending is very common. Even small purchases can add up, especially if your Super is paying top dollar for things like garbage bags, soap, and light bulbs. Your managing agent should be overseeing all of the building’s purchases and assuring that your building is being provided with the very best prices from their vendors,” says executive Brandon Osman.

North America to continue well stimulation dominance

The United States is the world’s largest well stimulation market, accounting for about 80 percent of the global total. More wells are drilled in the US than any other nation, and the US oil and gas industry has been quicker to embrace horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies than anywhere else. Much of the rest of the market is concentrated in Canada, Russia, and China.

Canada has begun to develop resources in western shale formations, and in the portion of the Bakken that reaches into Manitoba. Growth is expected as a result of shale development in a number of other countries, as well as continued growth of oil production in Brazil and land-based natural gas drilling in Mexico. Kasakhstan and other former Soviet republics are also increasing their exploration activities.

Evolving stimulation technology to spur demand for proppants & chemicals

Fluids and proppants are critical to successful well stimulation operations and technology continues to evolve, causing rapid changes in the market for stimulation materials. A more recent preference for slickwater formulations in some shale and tight formations boosted demand for friction reducers. As proppant volumes skyrocketed, demand for sand proppants took market share from ceramics due to cost issues. In the future, stimulation fluid formulations are expected to continue to improve, driven by higher performance requirements and more stringent environmental regulations.

The long-standing king of forensic disk imaging, the Tableau TD2, may no longer reign supreme, as seen in a recent demonstration comparing it to CyanLine’s Fast Disk Acquisition System (FDAS) in speed, ease of use and price.

Josh King, technology staff writer of Best in Class Magazine compared the Tableau TD2 to CyanLine’s Fast Disk Acquisition System (FDAS).

Using an 80GB SSD with eSATA, the Tableau TD2 took just over an hour to make a full forensic image and create a checksum. CyanLine’s FDAS captured the same information in less than 11 minutes.

“Forensic investigators who need to collect images fast and frequently deal with digital imaging investigations weekly, or even monthly, should consider FDAS as a worthy investment,” King stated. “Its speed and efficiency are incomparable. Investigator’s may even find the Tableau TD2 burdensome compared to FDAS.”

Speed is not the only feature FDAS boasts above Tableau TD2, King said. CyanLine’s state-of-the-art system also allows forensic investigators the ability to view the entire image and additional metadata, or data about the data, in real-time over its secured network. “There are no shades of gray when it comes to the actual image itself,” King said.

CyanLine’s FDAS grants investigators the power to review an entire forensic image without having to download it to a computer, nor requires a source drive – two elements Tableau TD2 cannot mention in its ‘Features’ section.

The system holds two RAID drives inside a sealed chassis, storing up to 1.5 TB of images in either dd or E01 formats. The resulting image is stored onto a target drive that is sealed within the FDAS unit. Only authorized personnel who have proper role-based permissions can review the images over the network.

Overall, King said the Tableau TD2 is easy to use, inexpensive and a great resource for investigations when time is no matter, and forensic imaging services are infrequent. However, while FDAS costs more up front, King concluded its speed, ease of use and long-term cost-effectiveness are strides above the popular Tableau TD2.
